The Highlight of the Year
Tuesday, June 16, 7:30 p.m.
Dover High School Auditorium

This always-inspiring event was no disappointment this year. We honored 253 graduates, three essay contest winners read their very moving works, and the crowed filled the auditorium at Dover High School!

Our special guest this year was Debbie Tasker. Debbie served as Executive Director of the Adult Learning Center for 20 years, 1980 - 2000. She is now the GED administrator for the State. The Center's Board of Directors awarded her the Center's first ever honorary GED.

INTERNATIONAL CULTURE CELEBRATION ~ a great success!
Each year the Center celebrates the cultures of the 40-50 countries represented among our English for Speakers of Other Languages students. This year about 200 people filled the cafe to enjoy the food, displays, and cultural presentations. Many thanks to our students for their hard work in presenting, and to our public for such an enthusiastic response.

 

Annual Student-Led Yard Sale was Saturday, May 16

Thanks to all who donated and all who volunteered and all who purchased, we raised over $1,200 in support of students and student programming. Proceeds were matched 2:1 by two generous donors.

Reds Run (or Walk) for a Better Community was Sunday, April 26

WOW - Over 400 runners and nearly 300 walkers registered for this growing event. Friends of the Cnter, including many students, Board members, and people from the general public, solicited pledges that total nearly $4,000! Added to the net proceeds from the run/walk, the Center will receive about $6,000. Moreover, student generated pledges are matched 2:1.

The event prompted the production of the Center's first-ever, signature Burgundy T-Shirt with the Center's new logo AND the gratitude of adult education students for years to come.

Dover Adult Learning Center of Strafford County helps adults in the Strafford County area enhance their life-coping skills and improve their lives through basic education, job training, high school completion, and enrichment classes. We help our students become more effective lifelong learners, family members, workers, and citizens.
