ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE) CLASSES

ABE classes are for people who seek to improve basic skills in reading, writing and math. Students gain the skills they need to be successful as parents, wage earners, and citizens.

GED - Students may prepare to take the GED exam at the Center through exercises, practice tests and ABE classes. The GED test fee is $65.

Effective July 1, 2009, the law in New Hampshire is that students must be enrolled in high school until age 18.  If you are 16 or 17 years old, your next step is to contact your high school to determine whether services from the Center are authorized .

On-site childcare is available Monday through Thursday for children of participants in our Dover-daytime programs.

Access fees for childcare:

  • $10 per month per family.
  • Scholarships available to families unable to pay.

ADULT LEARNER SERVICES and the ADULT TUTORIAL PROGRAM

The Strafford County Adult Tutorial Program provides free one-to-one tutoring in basic skills for anyone 18 and over in Strafford County. If classes are not for you and you want help with reading, math, writing, GED prep, or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), then the tutorial program may be for you. A tutor will meet with you once a week at a time and place convenient for you both.

TUTOR ORIENTATION
