COMPUTERS FOR NOVICES

KATHY MCKENZIE
Kathy has always loved math, but caught the computer bug in high school. She continued on in college to get a degree in applied mathematics with concentration in computer science. With these tools, she went on to jobs as engineering aid, hydrology support staff, computer programmer, and web master. She is owner of "Patient Computer Tutor" in Dover, NH. Learn computer terminology and parts ~ how to turn on/off the computer and monitor and how to move about using the mouse. Learn what windows are and how to connect to the Internet. Use browsers and search engines; bookmark your favorite places to return to. Create an email address, send, save and receive email to share with family & friends. Attach photos and documents. Includes manual and lab time to practice.

Has 43 years of Government service retiring in Jan 2011. Has taught for 12 years in Adult Education with RSU 57 Maine, 4-year Master Instructor William F. Bolger-Management Academy, Potomac MD teaching human relation skills including the Myers-Briggs program, Microsoft Certified Partner, Comptia A+ certified computer technician, taught typing skills and Open Office at the York Coun Jail, inmates and teaching contractor for State of Maine/Voc/Rehab in A+ and certified ethical hacker programs.

Introductory concepts and techniques for MS Windows, Word, Access and Excel, with workplace applications. Keyboarding helpful but not required. 1/2 adult diploma computer credit; required for graduation. Limited to 10.

QUICKBOOKS I

LOUISE JUNEAU-KURYLAK
Louise is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and is owner and operator of Priority Bookkeeping, specializing in Tax & Financial Planning and QuickBooks Consulting.

Hands on basic QuickBooks data entry for Accounts Receivable, Payable and QuickBooks reporting. Learn QuickBooks company set-up and the Chart of Accounts which includes a basic understanding of accounting practices. Learn QB inventory, invoicing, receiving payments, entering and paying bills, and working with bank accounts. Ending with an in-class QuickBooks overview project, if time permits. Windows knowledge required, typing, open/close files and able to navigate in Windows.

Learn intermediate skills for estimating, time tracking and job costing, customizing forms, memorizing transactions, tracking and paying sales tax, preparing payroll, online banking, and creating financial reports and graphs. Ending with an in-class QuickBooks overview project of everything learned in QB I and II. Pre-requisite: QuickBooks I
