WRITING CLASSES & WORKSHOPS

INDIVIDUAL COACHING

Sue Wheeler and Maggie Moore

Our Writing Resource Center Coordinator. Maggie worked as a consultant for the Robert J. Connors Writing Center at UNH, where she assisted undergraduate and graduate student writers. As assistant director, she trained peer writing assistants and presented writing workshops for faculty & staff.

Writing coaches will meet with you in individual conferences to read and talk with you about your writing; professional (business reports, memos, email); personal (memoir, Letters to the Editor, a toast); creative fiction or nonfiction. We provide supportive, specific help at any stage in the writing process from idea to completion-even help with commas. The focus of the session is up to you. We work with your writing but also with you as the writer, to help you improve where you want to improve.

WRITERS READ SERIES - Titia Bozuwa

Tuesday, April 6th

Fees: Free and open to the public.

Location: Dover Public Library

Titia Bozuwa reads from her 4th book, THE EMPEROR'S GUEST, a spell-binding account of her husband's coming of age behind barbed wire in World War II in Indonesia.

As a 16-year-old, brought up in the Colonial Dutch East Indies with his father a Commander of Dutch Royal Navy, Gijs Bozuwa witnesses the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. His cultural, physical and spiritual transitions from his past to a Japanese prison camp involve shipwrecks, attempted escapes, a make-shift school, and the relationships he forms in camp. Despite hunger and fear, a beating because Bozuwa refused to give a guard his blanket from home, and his decision to volunteer in the prison "hospital" reveal his growing strength, honor and spirit which, later, would lead to his becoming a doctor.

Titia Bozuwa's other books include IN THE SHADOW OF THE CATHEDRAL, WINGS OF CHANGE and JOAN: A MOTHER'S MEMOIR.
