The Adult Learning Center offers classes and training geared to professional development offering a broad range of workplace skills, whether it's specific Microsoft Office software, factory documents non-native speakers must understand, or practical math for mechanical trades.
Employees may take advantage of classes offered at the Center (group discounts available) or customized onsite training can be developed to meet your company's specific needs.
Corporate Training and Employee Skills Development
Employers across all sectors experience multiple challenges running a business, be it in strong economic times or in a sluggish economy. Sometimes one of the first areas to be cut from the budget is employee training. Yet, with a business slowdown it becomes advantageous to take time to retool or upgrade employee skills. Training can be done on site or at the McConnell Center. We offer customized programs to address the specific education needs of the employer.
Specific areas of education in which we have successfully offered courses are:
Computer & Basic Skills Training: Topics range from basic introduction to computers and/or specific standard software, to introduction to Internet and Web resources, to more advanced or customized applications. PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Word, Publisher - common Microsoft applications.
Building Better Work Habits: Topics may include following directions, how to dress, workplace safety, rights and responsibilities, customer service, good work habits and etiquette.
English for Speakers of Other Languages: We can serve students from different countries, speaking different languages - a common language among students is not necessary.
Furthering Basic Skills: Improve employee communications internally and with customers. Interpersonal relations, projecting a positive attitude and honing business writing and speaking skills.
Services for Employees in Transition: Providing free skills assessment and a variety of low-cost or free services that lead to improved basic skills and a high school credential. Reading, writing and mathematics are the core curriculum. Students can work in the GED Program or within our Adult Tutorial Program.
The Adult Learning Center is recognized as an Outstanding Adult Education Program by the US Secretary of Education, and is ranked in New Hampshire as the 2nd largest Adult Education Program by the Bureau of Adult Education in Concord, NH.
