
Adult ESOL classes are geared to teach basic vocabulary through reading and writing skills.
Classes are FREE (except advanced) and are held at the Adult Learning Center at 61 Locust Street in Dover, next to the Dover Public Library.
Before students can attend classes they must come in and register. Testing (for level placement) and registration dates are Friday, February 3 at 9 a.m., Thursday, February 9 at 6 p.m., Friday, February 17 at 9 a.m. and Thursday, February 23 at 6 p.m.
Winter classes begin January 3. Spring classes begin April 2.
No testing when school is closed due to storm cancellation

The Advanced ESOL classes listed below are appropriate for ESOL students who have Level 3 or better English skills. Course content includes reading and discussing newspapers, short stories, plays, etc., to increase comprehension & vocabulary, writing essays, grammar lessons, and discussing everyday language.

Free of Charge
Learn about US government, history and the responsibilities & opportunities of democratic life. Curriculum based on US citizen-ship application & test questions.
Appropriate for intermediate or advanced ESOL students. Work on English skills & vocabulary through focused readings, class discussion & small group activities. Includes film on what makes for successful citizenship interview and a live, simulated interview.
