ESOL and Citizenship

ESOL Classes -  Schedule

Adult ESOL classes are geared to teach basic vocabulary through reading and writing skills.

Classes are FREE (except advanced) and are held at the Adult Learning Center at 61 Locust Street in Dover, next to the Dover Public Library.

Registration begins by scheduling an appointment with counselor Pam Shaw. Pam has appointments on Tuesday and Thursday mornings or evenings. Assessment testing is offered every other Friday morning for day classes and every other Thursday evening for night classes:

Level 1 – Beginner Levels 1 - Beginner

Advanced ESOL Classes -  Schedule

Tuition: $30 each session
The Advanced ESOL classes listed below are appropriate for ESOL students who have Level 3 or better English skills. Course content includes reading and discussing newspapers, short stories, plays, etc., to increase comprehension & vocabulary, writing essays, grammar lessons, and discussing everyday language.

Citizenship

$50.00 Registration Fee

(limited scholarship $ available based on financial need)

Learn about US government, history and the responsibilities & opportunities of democratic life. Curriculum based on US citizen-ship application & test questions.

Appropriate for intermediate or advanced ESOL students. Work on English skills & vocabulary through focused readings, class discussion & small group activities. Includes film on what makes for successful citizenship interview and a live, simulated interview.

            FRIDAY DISCUSSION GROUP FOR ESOL STUDENTS

Come practice your English speaking skills. Discussions focus on current events, vocabulary use, educational topics and student interests. Large and small group activities. Guest speakers. Open to all levels. Free Childcare.

No Charge. Funded by Adult Learner Services, NH Bureau of Adult Education
